Packing Fragile Items For Self-Storage Without Damage

Protect glassware, electronics, mirrors, and décor with a packing routine that holds up over longer stays in storage.

Fragile items should be packed by weight and material, not just by room. Wrap glass and ceramics individually, fill empty space inside each box, and mark boxes on more than one side so they stay upright during transport and stacking.

Electronics should be cleaned, fully dried, and packed with cables grouped in labelled bags. If original packaging is gone, use strong cartons with padding on every side and avoid placing heavy boxes on top. Moisture control matters, so sealed bins or well-lined cartons help during longer storage periods.

Inside your unit, keep delicate items off the floor and away from the heaviest furniture. Stack the most fragile boxes last so they are visible and easy to reach. A few careful packing decisions up front will prevent the most common storage damage later.
